This original art piece is handmade by me, Dr. Jessica Hodgson, an ecologist, using the vintage cyanotype process.
For me, Ferns instill a feeling of peace and memories of walking through cool and quiet rainforests on adventures throughout eastern Australia. Austral Bracken Fern (Pteridium sp.) is a cornerstone species of Australian forests. It’s a rapidly colonising understorey species that provides important habitat and is even foraged on by Koalas on occassion.
I have made this original work using pressed fern fronds from my property in rural NSW and the sun. The cyanotype process encapsulates the detail in the fronds producing an ever-reliable and magically stunning silhouette.
These artworks look incredible grouped together into an eclectic gallery wall.
What is a cyanotype?
Cyanotype is the name of the process of the original photography technique. However, unlike photography as we know it today, this process is completely cameraless and images are exposed in the sun, rather than a darkroom. Materials: This original artwork is made using finely woven cotton fabric
Size: The artwork is cut by hand to 8 x 10 inch / 20 x 25cm and then mounted onto gallery-quality, acid-free mounting board ready to frame in an 11 x 14 inch frame
I strive for 100% client satisfaction and each piece can be made to order, therefore if you have particular preferences, i.e. you would like a very deep blue, please get in touch to ask if it can be achieved. I am happy to accommodate as much as possible.

Cancellation / Return / Exchange Policy
I pour a lot of heart and soul into each piece of art created and so I endeavour to ensure that you are 100% happy with your purchase. That is why I offer a 7-day return policy. This means you have 7 days after receiving your item to request a return.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, and in its original packaging. If your custom item is not as requested (i.e. material or size), you are also eligible for a return. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
To start a return, you can contact us at [email protected]. If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
Exceptions / non-returnable items
Certain types of items cannot be returned, like perishable goods (such as food, flowers, or plants), custom products (such as special orders or personalized items), and personal care goods (such as beauty products). We also do not accept returns for hazardous materials, flammable liquids, or gases. Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.
Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
