The Sea Turtle Brooch
$38.00
The Sea Turtle Brooch_ 4 colours available
Description
My ancestors came from the islands of the Torres Strait, and on these islands the Sea Turtle is part of the living history of the people. The Turtle is of the Warralngu, the creatures of the sea. They were food and shell and respected as wide and ancient animals who travelled the wide ocean. The Sea Turtle is quick and can also lay low and still when danger is near. Despite it’s shape it is a graceful swimmer gliding the ocean and reef currents with ease.
In making this piece I honour my ancestors and the Islands that gave them life, with my interpretation of the magical sea turtle.
The brooch comes in 4 colourways:
Sea green
Silver Blue reef
Lilac Blue reef
Island Green
The Sea Turtle attaches to clothing with either a brooch pin or a magnet, let me know if you have a preference

A word about pricing.....
Many people ask how I decide on the prices for my pieces. All of my works are priced according to design time, materials cost, time to assemble and the amount of intricate working such as ink rubbing or painting involved. Custom pieces cost extra due to design time additions.
I try to keep my prices as reasonable as I can as I want theOttopiary curiosities to be accessible to all purchasers.
