Tooma Tikka Masala


The original dish of chicken tikka, is pieces of chicken marinated in spices and yoghurt and roasted in the oven. The origin of Tikka Masala is a heated debate, but I prefer the story of the bus driver who walked into a restaurant in Glasgow:

‘On a typical dark, wet Glasgow night, a bus driver coming off shift came in and ordered a chicken curry. He sent it back to the waiter saying it’s dry. At the time, Dad had an ulcer and was enjoying a plate of tomato soup. So he said why not put some tomato soup into the curry with some spices. They sent it back to the table and the bus driver absolutely loved it. He and his friends came back again and again and we put it on the menu.’ – Source: Hairy Bikers

It’s an absolute favourite in the UK, and I ate ALOT of it when I lived in Scotland. Now it’s super easy for you to enjoy from your own Kitchen.

Tooma is our neighbour just up the road towards Tumbarumba, it’s a beautiful spot and home of the Tooma Pub, one of our many gorgeous little country pubs that has a great atmosphere, cold beer and yummy meals.
