Why Spend With Us?

We are artists and this is the story of our 2020.
After many years of hard work, 2020 was going to be our year.
After all we had been asked to attend the Royal Chelsea flower show!!
Which is the pinnacle of our field.
We had the Melbourne international flower show, Australian Wearable arts show, Shows in the USA and discussing show in Indonesia and Japan.
Then Covid hit and we had nothing, zero. Every single one of our events cancelled.
We had no income and had to find a way to survive.
So we did what we do best and started creating.
We have many farm babies, of lot of them being rescued.
To keep myself from focusing on our loss, I entertained myself with what we had.
A beautiful farm, our health and our creative spirits. We understood a lot of people were suffering far worse than us, due to covid.
I started creating my ‘Naturally positive’ images purely for joy and just as a way to occupy myself.
After a while I shared them on my social media, people loved them, they connected & could see the joy in them. I turned them into a full set of positive affirmation cards and this brings us a humble income & supports the farm animals.
I started painting canvases again, something I hadn’t done for years. Throughout the years I have sold many canvases, however this craft had fallen to the side in recent years.
My partner has been very busy with general farm work and creating the music for my video clips, he is a musician and works with his hands, building.
He has created beautiful woodworks. Hand crafting seats and table from sustainable hard woods.
Our arts is what has kept us happy and bought us a small income during covid.
We have connected back to our creative and found joy in a humble lifestyle and nature.
FIRES AND FLOODS
We lived on a little farm over looking Mt Warning.
Last year we had a devastating fire within 700 metres of our little farm.
The experience would was like nothing I’d ever had or wanted to have again. The skies were dark, glowing red and it was snowing ash. There was a heavy feeling to the air.
It was like a war zone, constant choppers and a large 747 carrying load after load of water trying to extinguish the fire.
We packed all of our animals up in crates, wheels bins, containers anything we had on hand that we could find (we have chickens, geese, guinea fowl, a cat and dog). At the worst peak of the fire all of our feathered babies had to spend the night on the truck, ready to go at any moment.
Our nights were sleepless and exhausting until the fire was contained.
As you can imagine it caused us a lot of anxiety.
Then Again during The Xmas Season we had our truck packed up for 6 weeks (ready to load the animals in if needed) as there was a fire a few KM’s from our farm again.
We constantly had to have one person home with the other only allowed to go out for a few hours in case of emergency. It was 6 weeks of unknown and constant surveillance of the NSW fire app.
Hoping the winds wouldn’t change in our direction, as from our last experience we know just how quickly a giant bushfire can move. Luckily the rains came on Christmas day and that was the best present we could have ever asked for.
We have since moved to the other side of the mountain, we do not back onto bush lands now, thank goodness. However, we live on a creek.
Then recently we had that crazy weather pattern hit us. How could you ever imagine it? From fires to floods? The waters rose 7.5metres Flooding our yard like a raging river, very luckily it didn’t come in the house. Thank goodness. However we did have to pack the whole house up!
Just to give you an idea on the amount of water, the bridge usually sits at 0.8m, it rose by 7 metres in a matter of 24 hours, most of that being within a 3 hour period. It then loomed for two days.
We knew we’d be safe from fires here and we thought floods too, but Mother Nature can be very powerful when she wants too.
So that’s our story. We are very lucky. We love farm life. We love our creative.
