Why Spend With Us?

I have a workshop/studio in Blackheath where I have exhibitions, run workshops and create all my designs for ClothFabric plus artworks and products for sale. Me and my partner Manda, also run a small holiday accomodation business – RoughTrack Cabins. Our two hand built ironstone cabins sit on the very edge of the National Park within our 29 acres over looking the Grand Canyon walk. We rely on a combination of word of mouth, online sales, passing trade and tourism for our sales and bookings.

On NYE the Grose Valley bush fire came to within 100 mtrs of our property, burning our neighbours place to the ground but luckily ours was saved in the nick of time by the amazing Blue Mountains RFS and the DC10 plane dropping retardant just at the right moment. It was touch and go and incredibly distressing for such a long time. We evacuated for three weeks whilst these fires were raging throughout December, cancelling workshops and cabin bookings earning no income at all from a normally very busy period. Since then our cabin bookings have remained low – down by 85 %. And with very little  passing trade we now rely heavily on commissions and online sales to get us through.

We would love people to come back up to the Mountains and stay with us, come to my studio and see what I make. The landscape is amazing at the moment with all the rain and regrowth. The intense charcoal of the burnt trees and bright green new growth and misty autumn days are a wonderful combination to experience.

You can book a few nights with us at roughtrackcabins.com.au and you can find out more about what I do at juliepaterson.com.au and buy some of my fabric at clothfabricshop.com.au
